SPOILERS

So this was my second time reading this book and just like the first time, I listened the book being narrated by the amazing Santino Fontana! Seriously, he does an amazing job as Joe where I 100% am on his side, even when he is talking about the craziest things.
Onto the review:
Re-reading this book I am definitely more aware of Joe's crazy behavior but the book is so well written that even though I know what Joe is doing is incredibly illegal, toxic, wrong (every and any bad word) I still want him to be happy and to thrive with Love. I felt like it was so weird that the author added the Amy Adams storyline because I really don't think she was interesting but she definitely was a great catalyst to bring Joe to California. As someone born and raised in California, the way he describes is does sound like how a New Yorker would describe California. Love and Joe's relationship was so much better to watch unfold than how he was with Beck. Not just because they are both crazy, but more because it was reciprocated. Listening to Joe go on and on about Beck made me so angry because I felt it was so obvious that she wasn't super interested in him and first, like sir, let go! But with Love, she matched his energy the whole time, especially at the end! Was I expecting Love to get the "mug of piss" back the way she did, absolutely not. Did I enjoy her retelling of that story, yes! I did like the side note of the therapist coming back in the background of the book. He was totally getting gaslit for sure and I love that. I mean yeah Joe was awful but should Beck's therapist wanting to have a relationship with her, absolutely not.
Sidenote: the reason the show pisses me off SOOOO much is because they accurately did a very well page to screen of the first book and the second book, yeah they made some changes but for the most part, pretty accurate. Why the show felt the need to make Joe not adore Love more when he found out she was just like him will always be annoying. Like excuse me...Joe was ready to risk it all for Love BECAUSE she matched his crazy. Anywho, great first and second season.
4.25/5 Highly recommend this series.
