The Animal Dialogues: Uncommon Encounters in the Wild by Craig Childs

5.0

I loved everything about this book. Each chapter is about a different animal, a good mix of scientific information and the author's personal encounters. At the beginning of the book, Craig Childs recommends reading the chapters out of order, and that's exactly what I did. I have never read a book in such a fashion, yet it worked for this one. I rotated between mammals, birds, insects, and so on. His writing is beautiful and transported me out West in a way nothing else has since I left Montana. I highly recommend this book to any other animal lovers.

Not surprisingly, my favorite chapters were bear, mountain line, squid, and blue shark. The unexpected favorite: porcupine. Who knew they are such interesting little creatures?

I can't believe I let this sit on my self so long without reading it. This is the type of book that I know I'll be picking up again someday.
