Deborah Levy is such a writer. Her wording and sentence structure and even the whole book's structure is immaculate and beautiful. Her words read like poetry.
The story is beautiful and the part on Algerian history and French occupation was so interesting and in a way served the story with what Philip did. France, the great and beautiful France. Philip, the charming and kind Philip. How blind are people!
The relationships between the men and the women, the unloved and the loved (or who seem loved) are diverse and interesting. How Deborah sent a massage that what seems is not what is and everyone has secrets and pasts, sometimes dark pasts.
Overall the story was interesting and complex and the characters reflected on a certain part of humanity and life and love.
Poetic, complex and dark.
