Bitter Sweet Love
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I don't know how I didn't know about this until now. I absolutely adored this series and I loved getting a glimpse back into their world.
Bitter Sweet Love takes place before the rest of the Dark Elements series, so it doesn't follow the set of main characters that we were used to seeing. This instead focuses on two side characters, Jasmine and Dez. Both Wardens, both bound by their sacred duty to protect humanity from the demons that plague them. And both in love. But when Dez suddenly up and left, Jasmine was left to pick up the pieces of her broken heart. That is until Dez comes back and decides he wants her to be his mate.
I loved both of these characters. Jasmine for her strength and sassiness and Dez for his humor and devotion. This was just a quick snapshot into their relationship as Dez tries to win back Jasmine's heart while agreeing to her conditions. Along the way, they battle demons, sight-see, and rediscover their love for each other.
I enjoyed this novella and it made me want to reread the series. Especially that little glimpse of Layla, Zayne, and Roth.
