I was NOT expecting to like this as much as I did. Really! But I also had very low expectations for this after previously DNF’ing a popular series I had high expectations for.

Regardless…

This was the Bone Witch meets Game of Thrones with a bit of Naruto-like spice and a dash of KnY early on.

One of the best highlights for me is the magic system in this world. It is so intriguing and unique I really fell in love with it almost immediately. Especially when you learn about the various smith types and the powers they control.

Another is the FMC herself. Wren was so easy to follow along with. She is what I would describe as a badass girlboss who at times is reckless and selfish but has her priorities straight and her common sense in the right place. She was also funny and charming. One of my favorite MCs of all time.

Overall this was amazing for the fantasy-adventure lover and had just the right amounts of slow-burn. I laughed. I smiled. I gasped. I shouted.

And now I have to wait until later this year to find out what will happen next. BOO.
