Lean in: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead
by Sheryl Sandberg
Well written, insightful, inspirational. Yet, as a woman who has chosen not to have children and having already married an equality-minded husband, I could relate to this book but it didn't bring me a lot of new insight. I am one of a number of senior leaders in my company who are women. I consider myself fortunate in all of these areas to not have had to struggle with juggling the choice and reality of raising children while becoming advancing my career. I applaud Sandberg for her thoughtful work but had hoped to find a bit more for me to internalize, and in turn, help the next generation of women. And, because of her age, I imagine her challenges have not included the one I currently face, which is balancing work and eldercare. I think this is another invisible issue that affects more women than men and is not easily acknowledged in the workplace.
