Catharine and Other Writings by Jane Austen

Of course some of these stories, poems, and fragments are more enjoyable than others, but they are all interesting for the glimpse into Austen's teenage years. A better familiarity with the specific novels she is skewering would no doubt have enhanced my reading, but I still enjoyed her wit in a broader sense. Since these were all written for her family and friends, it's fun to think of the inside jokes they must contain that we can't see.
