Lock Every Door by Riley Sager

4.0

4.5 stars!

I don’t remember the last time a thriller brought me to tears, but that’s where I found myself in the last ten chapters of Lock Every Door. The sheer, utter hopelessness painted by Sager when the twists have unraveled and the hammers have fallen weighed so heavily on me that I couldn’t help but cry for Jules, and for the other victims of the Bartholomew.

There is so much about Jules that makes her a real, honest protagonist even in the midst of a plot that is anything but realistic. Though the story takes a turn into some formulaic, typical moves, she is unique and fiery enough to make up for it.

This is a tightly written, fairly quick read and I’m VERY thankful I selected it as my July BOTM.
