This would have worked better for me as a short story as elements started to drag.

I love so many elements of this story, the commentary of the beauty industry, personal insecurities and traumas, feelings of grief, strained but loving mother daughter relationships.

The writing is of course beautiful! A beautiful, weird, fever dream :)

My complaint comes from the story not having a driving action, it's mostly the protagonist allowing the plot to happen to her. They don't make decisions for themselves as much as allowing themselves to dissociate and give themselves into the weirdness
