A Red Herring Without Mustard by Alan Bradley

3.0

I just adore little Flavia de Luce! She is sassy, intelligent, has an endearing obsession with chemistry, and an undying enthusiasm for solving mysteries. What impresses me the most about this series is that the author does not let readers forget that Flavia is like so many other eleven year old girls: she personifies her bike Gladys, constantly bickers with her older sisters, and she drives the story through strength of will and her unflappability. This is the third book in the series, but I was still amazed at the twists and revelations that kept me guessing until the very end. I'm looking forward to reading the next one!
