Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren

4.0

Last day of april, I'd been reading A Little Life for a couple days and I was in desperate need of a lighthearted novel to compensate. I choose to read Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating, a cute and quick romance written by two authors that had already pleasantly surprised me last year with The Unhoneymooners. I'm so glad I made that decision that day, because it was exactly the book I needed to lift up my mood and put all my heartbreak for A Little Life aside.
You know you're on for a great ride when you've only read the prologue and you're already laughing out loud. It was such an amazing read thanks to the cuteness, the humor, the messages it delivers, the main characters and the realistic portrayal of their relationship. I loved them both individually and together, they're so opposite in their personality but so well-paired at the same time. I loved their chemistry and their friendship, you just can't help to root for them ! The story is mainly focus on their relationship, you don't really get to see other sides of their life but I was expecting it so it didn't bother me (I've seen a lot of reviews saying that it was too fluffy and that they expected more of the story so..).
The only reason I'm not giving it 5 full stars is because of the ending, I won't go into details of course. The authors decided to add something extra to the plot just before the end and I just think personally that the book would have been fine without it. Somehow it's putting a pressure on them and adding unnecessary drama ? But that's just my opinion. I still recommend it 100% if you're in search of a cute, quick to read romance with amazing characters or if you just need something to lighten up your mood !
