I love a family drama, and Summer of ‘69 is a fantastic family drama that also adds historical context. Set in Nantucket in the summer of 1969, the strong female members of this family navigate their own personal struggles in a country that’s battling many of its own. Real world events like the Vietnam war, the moon landing, and civil rights are important themes in the storylines of the characters. I really enjoyed this book, and I truly felt like reading it was an escape to another place… Perhaps an escape to Nantucket in the summer of 1969.
