This actually contained both Gunmetal Magic and Magic Gifts. Both of these storylines overlap and I think it would have actually been better if they were combined into one books so that most of the book is from Andrea's POV and then there would be a few chapters from Kate's. If you don't read it as a duel read then there will be some minor spoilers either way, however Magic Gifts ends before the final events that occur in Gunmetal Magic.

Although I wouldn't say these are integral to the overall storyline of this series, I think it does provide a lot of character development that makes it worth while to read. Particularly so for Andrea, Raphael, and the Bouda clan as a whole. One thing that I really love about this series and the way these authors write their characters, is that they are so relatable and realistic. When a major conflict happens the characters respond in such honest ways and things aren't just swept under the rug. They continue to create a world and stories that have such a great mashing of urban fantasy, post apocalyptic, divine magic, mythology and supernatural creatures.
