All the Gold Stars by Rainesford Stauffer

hopeful inspiring reflective medium-paced

5.0

A fantastic book by Stauffer about the socioeconomic and political history of ambition. I enjoyed this book much more than expected, I thought it would be 'scientific' but is actually a brilliantly woven book about personal stories and experiences on ambition, how that has changed for different people, and how we can reframe ambition as something collective as opposed to individualistic. I also appreciated the diversity of interviewees covered within the book and the respect Stauffer explicitly references to people's expertise and backgrounds. The book is not a self-help guide, but taught me a lot about what we owe each other.
