Pip and the town of Fairview return! I was skeptical, but these books keep getting better. I get the same feeling reading these books as I used to when I read Nancy Drew as a kid.

If you are deciding between formats, choose the audiobook. It’s an exquisite narrator and performance. The scratch of the recordings in interviews submerges you more into the world.

The characters from book 1 get more fleshed out, including Ravi and Nat da Silva. And there are more characters, too!

Pip’s grappling with her own sense of Justice is really fascinating, but the best part of this book is the commentary on inter generational trauma.
The return of the ghost of the car crash with Max Hastings and Naomi Ward in a car chase with Pip, Cara, and Ravi speaks volumes about how Gen Z is dealing with the problems and echoes of problems from generations past. And Stanley Forbes being killed for his past crimes fits perfectly into this theme of cyclical violence. Charlie as a foil to Pip promises very good development in book 3.

Unlike book 1, the ending of this one doesn’t feel finished. I’m soooo excited for book 3.

Okay also Ravi is one of my favorite characters. Ever.
