The Fated Sky
by Mary Robinette Kowal
Another triumph from one of the best writers in our genre today!
The Fated Sky continues shortly after the end of The Calculating Stars, as humanity struggles to choose between continuing the outward push into the solar system and dealing with the continuing collapse of the climate at home on Earth. Kowal continues to examine the social issues of the problems facing humanity, as well as the technical and political challenges of space exploration and colonization.
She seamlessly blends the technological challenges of space travel and the personal difficulties suffered by the brave pioneers of the first crewed mission to Mars. It is all handled with her usual panache and heart, leaving me aching for another book so I can spend more time with these characters.
Overall, these books are a glorious invigoration of my enduring love for NASA and humanity's drive outward into space. They are a love letter to the space program, as well as a call to continue that legacy into our own future. Don't miss these books!
