The Hot Zone by Richard Preston
3.5
informative tense medium-paced

Very informative and interesting insight into the Ebola outbreaks. We definitely all almost died, and only didn’t because of some great luck.

The writing style is Uber descriptive, which is nice sometimes but really bogs down the pacing. And the author likes to describe a lot of details that don’t seem important.

The most relatable bit was right as the outbreak in the US was being found, a scientist was asked why she never published her previous Ebola research and it was just because she never got around to writing it up, classic. Also, is Ebola airborne??????

They do say the title because everywhere became a hot zone.
