Faithless in Death by J.D. Robb
4.0

The In Death books are always comfort reading for me. This book is solid, though it ended up being of the big bust variety that I haven't been enjoying as much as the more character-driven installments of this series. Coincidentally, I just listened to the podcast Unfinished: Short Creek, and this book reminded me a lot of it since it was also about a religious cult. I like that JD Robb includes small details about the characters' ordinary lives as well as their big and small life goals. I gather these morsels up like the treats that they are in a series that is 52 books deep. I wish that this volume had had more hang-out time among the characters, but that's not a fault of the book as a mystery. That's just me kind of wanting slice-of-life fan-fiction with the characters :p
