Suburban Hell
by Maureen Kilmer
Amy, Liz, Melissa, and Jess are all neighbors and best friends. During a monthly wine get together, they christen Liz’s she- shed and things take a sinister turn.
I expected more of a dark, campy comedy. Kind of like Jennifer’s Body, but it had some more darker material than expected.
Parts of this felt.. off? Everyone seems to notice the changes in Liz, but only her friends are actively trying to get to the bottom of it. Like her own husband just ignores her behavior? I don’t know, it felt weird to me.
Also, the ending felt really rushed. There was a lot of build up with the demonic possession and the ending fell flat for me, personally.
It was a quick, spooky read. Just wanted a bit more!
