I thought this was a bit of a hidden gem to be honest, I wasn't expecting it to be so enjoyable, or to have so many moments where I was gritting my teeth. I am finding more and more with YA Plus fiction how very good it is, and how there are some wonderful stories that probably wouldn't fit well in adult fiction. My goal this year is to read more YA Plus because so far everything I have read has got high marks. *POSSIBLE SPOILER* - this reminded me a lot of the film 'Ready or Not' which I saw at the end of last year. S.T.A.G.S felt like a teenage version.
Greer MacDonald wins a scholarship to the prestigious St Aiden's school (S.T.A.G.S for short) which she is initially happy about, but as time goes by it really doesn't feel like she is fitting in at all, especially when she is constantly put down and teased by the most popular group of the school - the 'Medievals' who appear to be the epitome of English class with a massive dose of snobbiness thrown in.
However, one day she is sent an anonymous invitation, inviting her to spend the weekend 'huntin', shootin' and fishin' at Longcross - the family home (although it's really more like a mansion) of the head of the 'Medievals' - Henry de Warlencourt.
Greer cannot understand why she has been chosen, or why 2 other outsiders are also going.
But all will become clear, and Greer is going to need to keep her wits about her, and her head on her shoulders!
The minute I finished this, I was on Amazon checking if there was a sequel, and there is! So that will be added to my TBR very rapidly. I can't stop thinking about it!
