I have been craving for some urban fantasy for a while, and this book was satisfactory. The premise has a lot of potentials and the main cast are all loveable. Jaya is a strong, believable, and powerful protagonist, and I love her relationship with everyone, including Teacake and Allie. What sucks is that we never really get to learn more about the Beings, as well as more about the Wingdings and the cults. Admittedly, it will thicken the book beyond proportion, and it might also erase the mystery. (But come on, I am a curious gal!) Overall, a good quick novel to get out of a slump with.
Graphic: Medical content, Death of parent, Violence, Suicide attempt, and Suicide
Moderate: Trafficking, Religious bigotry, and Panic attacks/disorders
