Affliction by Laurell K. Hamilton

5.0

"Sometimes you need to go big, or go home."

I closed this book with the satisfying snap that only a hardcover gives you and grinned at the last line in the book. Laurell really listened, to either her muse or fanbase, and pulled out all the stops, giving us more of what we love (Edward, explosions and gore) and reigning in the sex while escalating certain parts and making any graphic scenes much more interesting. Anita continues to evolve, kick ass and take names, while Laurell really seemed to reflect on the last two decades she has spent with this character and just work so hard to keep things fresh that it comes off as easy. I am glad she dedicated the book to herself and Anita, because damn it, they deserve it. I couldn't have enjoyed this more.
