Anne Shirley is a great character, but it was hard to build momentum in the story when it was just a series of anecdotes about the misadventures she has. The last 50 pages had a nice arc with Miss Lavender, which I appreciated. I was disappointed that Gilbert Blythe only made cameo appearances and his friendship with Anne didn't have much chance to develop. Onto book 3 I guess!
