Dream Story by Arthur Schnitzler
3.0

It's a little difficult getting a sense of the book on its own since it's short and straightforward, and I've just recently rewatched Eyes Wide Shut, which is an admirably faithful adaptation. That said, I had a strong sense of place, character, and tone, based solely on the novella, and it covers quite a bit in terms of plot and theme without feeling rushed or crowded. I'm not married, so my opinion on just how insightful it actually is into the nuances of marriage may be undercooked, but even so it seems to offer a nice examination of jealousy, fidelity, honesty, and desire as they relate to spouses.
