Priestess of the White by Trudi Canavan

2.0

Finally finished this. I'm not saying its bad or anything, but it just didn't have me on the edge of my seat.
There is a lot of political maneuvering and cult-like mindsets to really have the story flowing smoothly. It felt kind of stuck sometimes. That said; the world is interesting - though a bit unnuanced.
In the beginning I really liked the character Leiard, but by the end of tis book he seemed so weak and insecure, easy to manipulate by the voice in his head. And don't even get me started on Auraya.
Having Tryss as the Siyee POV seemed like a complete waist of pages. I get why she put it in, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
A lot of the plot points were predictable and therefor didn't get my blood pumping. Frankly I was bored through most of the book. I don't believe in the romance between Leiard and Auraya. The only thing to brighten up the whole thing was Emerahl and Mirar. generally solid writing can't make up for lack of flow.

Not sure I'll be grabbing book 2 any time soon.
