I got artbaited into reading this book. And thank god I did!
I went in knowing nothing about the book or the series it is a spinoff of and got really skeptical when I realised that part of the book was going to be set in the "real word" and in modern times. I usually want my books to be full-on fantasy world or nothing. Yet this worked surprisingly well and did not bother me at all. The two worlds seamlessly blend into each other and left me only wanting to know more about the lore.
The two protagonists are EVERYTHING I could have ever wanted! I love how Briar being nonbianry was so elegantly woven I to the story and so lovingly normalised!
Also, damn, those two are hot together!
