The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan
3.0

3.5 stars
I enjoyed this book--especially the first half. Watching the main character grow and begin living outside of her precious books was lovely. The descriptions of Scotland made me long to visit there and the gentle romance was sigh worthy.
All the talk of books made me feel quite at home, while the idea of a mobile bookstore made me dream impossible fantasies for myself.
But...
The book wasn't quite four stars. The writing was a bit uneven (lovely in some areas and too rushed or flat in others.) I also thought the plot was a bit fantastic and improbable. Everything worked out a little too easily and too quickly for our book selling heroine. While her growth and progress in the first half of the book felt genuine, her character development in the second half felt a little too good to be true.
Overall this is a book for book lovers. And while there were obvious flaws I think it is still a fun novel to enjoy (especially on holiday or at the beach.)
