I understand the use of alcoholism to make an unreliable narrator, but as a flaw, it made it very difficult to care about the character. It just felt like a lot of the story was spinning the wheels of “if I wasn’t drunk, I could just remember”. The mystery was an okay reveal, but all in all, between the characters, the writing style, the mystery, and the general tone of the story, I just really wasn’t impressed.
