Hmm... I was kind of expecting more.

The White Road is an intriguing story of adventure gone wrong and mental illness.

Though several of the characters seem to be "haunted", is truly paranormal or a manifestation of their personal traumas?

I had just finished reading Ararat a few days ago and was immediately interested in this when it was recommended. But the summary is a bit misleading as Simon doesn't capture anything on film other than the creepy environment of a cavern and his narrow escape and his last testimony on Everest.

If anything, this is more a psychological "horror" and would not recommend it to anyone who has/had PTSD, amputation (due to frostbite), childhood trauma (death of parent), or a near death experience.

I'm hesitant to use the word "horror," but it's probably the closest subgerne this would fall under as I can safely say it's not an action, adventure, or thriller.
