Oscar Peterson is considered one of the greatest jazz musicians of all time. He is also among Canada's most renowned musicians.
Born Aug 15, 1925 in Montreal, QC, Oscar began playing the trumpet and piano at the age of five. After a bout of tuberculosis, he moved on to solely focus on the piano. His natural talent at the piano was noticed by many in his community.
Oscar's skills eventually launched him into a long, successful music career. He went on to win many accolades, including several Grammy awards, and a lifetime achievement award from The Recording Academy.
"Oscar Lives Next Door" depicts Oscar Peterson during his childhood days before he fell ill. He loved playing the trumpet and was exceptionally good at it. After tuberculosis weakened his lungs, he had to give up his beloved trumpet. But Oscar's love for music was so great, that instead of giving it up altogether, he decided to put all his energy into learning the piano. The result of which became a storied career that lasted decades.
