Zen Pencils, Volume 1: Cartoon Quotes from Inspirational Folks by Gavin Aung Than

5.0

I didn't cry my eyes out while reading this, I don't care what anyone says.

I've seen these books floating around for awhile now, but never bothered to really look into what they were about. At the same time, I'd seen beautiful art drawn to showcase some gorgeous quotes (most notably, his drawing of Gaiman's Make Good Art speech which always makes me smile and touches a part of my soul.) I never looked twice at who the artist was, never thought to wonder if they had their own website with a collection of their art.

And then I opened this book, got all emotional, stumbled across this art, and wanted very much to slap myself across the face.

Most of these quotes are truly wonderful and inspirational on their own, but when you pair them with art that is so moving and touching, simple but beautiful?

Ugh, my tear ducts hated this.
