an extraordinary book that explores the long term impact of intersectional trauma. maman & khaleh are prominent and beautiful examples of honest, resilient women who are trying their best in worlds that are set up against them. very reminiscent of my own mother, and every immigrant mother/female family member.
the way khabushani writes about these women is so overwhelmingly beautiful and the way he writes about the boys and their experiences is exceptionally sincere.
