I'm glad I decided to revisit this series and the decision to do audio also absolutely was the correct one. I mean the work that Andrew Kishino does here is truly incredible. Aside from him kind of being the perfect fit for this series, se is very good at doing distinct character voices and he also carries over the emotion so well. The ending made me cry while walking around in public. Can't feel ashamed if he (and Fonda Lees writing) evoke emotions so well. So far I also know 2 books Kishino narrated but I think he is now my second favorite audio book narrator behind Steven Pacey.

The second book in this series focuses on expanding the world of the Green Bone Saga. We learn about other countries and their cultures and it strongly focuses on their relationships with the island of Kekon. You can also clearly see that the author has an economics degree / background as she also explores the possibilities of trade and business surrounding the magical substance that is Jade. That might be somewhat dry for some people but having an economics degree myself I find it fascinating.

The author's character work continues to shine. I especially love the journey of the character Anden within this book but truly all of the extended family that this series focuses on are exceptional and all the drama surronding them just produces a bunch of gut wrenching and heartbreaking moments.

Gotta wait for an Audible credit to get to Jade Legacy but I really hope that afterwards it still stands as one of my favorite books of all time.
