I was nervous going into this book because I am not typically into heist driven stories and also this book has a reputation for being a favorite in the Grishaverse. But I really enjoyed this book!
I did read the S&B trilogy first and I personally am glad I did as the world was already built and I understood the stakes immediately. Getting more knowledge about different parts of the world was interesting too. Seeing Grisha from so many points of view was also new and gave good insight into the different areas of the world.
I enjoyed getting to know each of the characters slowly throughout.
All of the characters really pulled at my heartstrings in different ways. I ended up really liking each of them individually and as a team. My biggest issue is their ages, why do they have to be like 17? (I just age them up in my head and ignore it.)
It took a really long time for them to get into the heist, which I get, but also the story got slow for me at points because of that. Once they were in it I was invested and read it all in one sitting.
I am excited to jump into Crooked Kingdom next!
