Ugh my heart. Seriously, this is 730 pages of heartbreak and trauma. Spanning from 1991-2004 it brings us up to the start Binding 13 and gives more of background on the core Tommen group.
Hughie is to be protected at all costs - that guy is everything right with the world. So Hughie - I hope that you get everything you ever want in life you beautiful, beautiful boy
Lizzie is a character I struggled with in the previous books, but after this one… well I definitely understand her more, and I am so sorry for all the things she went through. Despite this insight into her character, I do still struggle with some of the choices she made and the way she treated others - especially Gibsie.

This book was complex, it was deep, and it was devastating. The depiction of mental health was done very well, and also spoke to the reception of the same in the 90s and early 2000s.

I’m looking forward to the next books, and hope the characters that haven’t gotten a happy ending yet get theirs
