Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling

5.0

just a bit behind prisoner of azkaban.

the set up - reminder - payoff scheme works better. there's more punch to everything.

'respect cedric diggory' had me crying.

krum and fleur are so easy to love. the world-building is stronger. there's less redundant stuff. and the stakes steep sharply in the last 10 chapters.

just really good but it's also the subtle things that make it hard for me to love it; rita skeeter's mannish hands, the greedy goblins, the enslaved elves, cho chang's name.

the only thing wrong with harry potter is miss joanne.
