The History of Bees by Maja Lunde
4.0

Dear The History of Bees,
You are such a brilliant work; part dystopia, part historical fiction, part cautionary tale, with a dash of mystery thrown in for good measure. I have never read and "cli-fi" before and initially was worried you would be infinitely preachy and full of doomsday prophecy. But you were more then that, better then that. You had such a brilliant and obvious tie between William, George and Tao's stories, that your conclusion seemed obvious. The subtlety that you issues your warnings was ideal, and I could see Tao's future as our own. I do wish I had a clearer picture of how drastic the Collapse was, how much the loss of bees affected modern life. Workers using animal feathers to pollinate flowers was a beautiful detail, tiny bit so poignant. This is an author I think I would enjoy exploring more next year
