One of my reading goals this year is to reread one book per month. April's pick was Pride and Prejudice, a classic I've reread several times before, and one that delivers something fresh and new each time. Since I've only read this book with my eyes, I opted for an audio version this time. I really enjoyed the narration and felt that I noticed and appreciated the dialogue and converstions between characters more than on previous readings, possibly because conversations are normally heard. For me, the book stands up to rereading and has never once disappointed me. I love the way it combines wit and humour with some serious social commentary. Austen's characterisation is top-notch. Mrs Bennett, Mr Collins, and Lady Catherine are all unforgettable, while Elizabeth continues to rank among the top fictional characters I'd love to be BFF with.
