The Hunger Games: Special Edition by Suzanne Collins

5.0

I am quite fond of going back and re-reading books that I remember once reading in middle school. Although I proudly say I never had a Katniss-complex as a 13 year old, I can confidently say that I resonate a little too much with Katniss now, nearly 7 years down the line. Unlike some other books that I have gone back to reread, I feel as though The Hunger Games is not as slept on, and with the new book and film, it is back on everyone's radar - and for good reason. I love the unlovable characters. I see now, as I am older, the true dystopian values of this book, and how deeply I resonate with the world they live in. I listened to the audiobook for this, and I was absolutely captivated by both the quick action of the games themselves, the glitz and glamor of the Capitol, and the dreariness of District 12. I fell in love with this world, and I can't wait to finally read the sequel and beyond for this series.
