Everything We Give by Kerry Lonsdale
4.0

I have torn through each of the books in the Everything series very quickly. I'm invested. I love the characters, I love the story line, and I especially love the way that these books shed light on situations and issues that oftentimes get swept under the rug in today's society. In the first book, I fell in love and cried with Aimee as she sought out her lost fiancé. In the second one, I got to know her fiancé, his dark past, and how he was going to shape his future as a man who lost several years of his life due to a fugue. And in this book, I fell in love with Aimee's husband, Ian, and the way that he loved his wife and his daughter.
I wasn't sure I was going to like Ian's side of the story because we learn so little about the intricacies in his character in the first two books, but it was fascinating to learn about his past and the people who influenced him throughout his life. He is a complex person with a complex past, and I had a much larger appreciation for him after finishing this book. He came out of tough circumstances and instead of letting them ruin his life, he let them shape who he was for the better.
The most captivating part of the story to me was learning about his mother and her multiple personalities. I have never known someone that lives this way, so it was interesting to learn about what it is like to live with someone who shifts from one persona to another. And it sheds light on how scary that can be for someone, particularly a young child.
In the end, I think this book was the resolution that all the characters in the series needed. I still think there's room for another book from Sarah's point of view - fingers crossed we can squeeze one more out of Lonsdale!
