Hot For the Fireman by Gina L. Maxwell

5.0

Erik “Wolf” Grady lives for his job. In all things he’s a take-charge kind of guy. Olivia “Livvie” Jones is looking for her life to change. Fell in love with a secondary character named Cindi – wanted to get to know her better. I also loved the guys that Erik works with and look forward to seeing more of them. It was nice to have the story in my neck of the woods. Left me wanting to rediscover Boston and all it has to offer.

The scene that sealed my fate was when Livvie met her latest client for the first time. You could almost feel the tension in the room but the author constructed the scene so that I couldn’t help but laugh. Wolf is a man who knows how to get under Livvie’s skin. It’s adorable to see how persistent he is when going after something he wants.

Our main characters both have issues and the author makes it interesting as we see these characters work out those issues with each other. The author takes on a very serious subject – PTSD. She does a great job of not getting too serious because that would have changed the tone of her story. But I give her kudos for taking on a very real issue. But nothing gets too serious and they always say that laughter is the best medicine. And this book was a great prescription that I didn’t mind filling – can’t wait to get my refill. Ms. Maxwell shows how hard it is when it comes to trying to be a couple which makes the ending sweet.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
