Year One by Nora Roberts

Wow, this one sent me to a bit of a weird place reading it post Covid. It just read differently. In saying that I absolutely loved this book. I loved how the characters were initially introduced in their own settings, in their own versions of what occurred before being bought together as one. Though it did get a bit confusing in some instances.
The outlook on what a pandemic can do to people's mental state shook me more than I thought it would, but thank god it never got to the scale of what happened in this book.
The fantasy element added a different layer of mystery and intrigue, but also again showed a part of the human psyche that will most likely be present even if the world is ending, to be afraid of people who are different and not the same as everyone else.
I will 100% be getting the second book, as the last couple of chapters had me shook and went in a totally different direction than I thought it would.
