5.0

My favorite installment yet. Ansel has been one of the more intriguing characters of the series and the author continues to deliver in that regard.

Ansel’s tragic back story is revealed and we get to see how intensely the Ardeleans circle up and support their own. There’s a strong found family element and some well placed humor in difficult moments.

Author did a great job of keeping the MCs age gap from feeling predatory. Ansel struggles not only with her age but also with the fact that she has been imparted to his care after having been arrested as well as being his best friend’s daughter.

And it wouldn’t be a Jaeger shifter romance without a strong political thread to dial up the conflict. This is one of the elements I enjoy most in her series as it makes it feel incredibly plausible—that this is exactly how it would go down if shifters existed.
