The Bark of the Bog Owl by Kristi Smith, Abe Goolsby, Jonathan Rogers

3.0

Clearly based on the story of David from the Bible, this book fleshes out a decent medieval story. Shepherd boy kills a panther, ancient wise prophet says he is going to be a king, he kills a giant with a sling, saves the day, and is invited to be a companion for the prince. There are two more books in the series and I will probably read them, but not now.

Good story, I like the Feechiefolk, though I'm not sure what their parallel is in the Biblical version. The Bark of the Bog Owl is slightly mysterious, but I am pretty sure the bog owl doesn't exist. I liked the cave & gunpowder stories.
