If I had read this book as a middle schooler, I feel like it would have been a turning point for me, and I would be a horror girly. It felt like a gateway drug.

As an adult, I found Wright's storytelling so compelling that while I wasn't feeling scared it was still obvious that the situation was scary. I loved it.
