Molly Gray is a neurodivergent maid working at a luxury hotel—and when she finds one of the hotel’s VIP guests dead in his bed, she quickly and unwittingly becomes the prime suspect in his murder.
Delightful! (IYKYK) This one was a bit slower in the beginning than I would ideally prefer in a mystery novel, but once it started rolling it moved plenty quickly. Molly was a wonderful main character—her obliviousness was a little hard to swallow at first but she was so earnest and genuine that I eventually felt it made perfect sense. The themes of family and friendship are also so strong throughout the book, which I loved. And, even though this is a fairly cozy mystery overall, the final few chapters had some pretty dark reveals that I really enjoyed. If you’re in the market for a fun mystery with a lot of heart and an extremely lovable main character, this is the novel to pick up next!
Recommended for anyone, but especially those who like: lighthearted mysteries; neurodivergent heroines; stories about friendship and family.
CW: Death/murder; death of a grandparent/parental figure; terminal illness; drug use; exploitation of immigrants; bullying/manipulation.
