11th Hour by Maxine Paetro, James Patterson

1.0

Overheard outside a workshop on plot development at a conference for published authors:

JAMES PATTERSON: How you coming along on 11TH HOUR?
MAXINE PAETRO: I’ve been meaning to talk to you about that. Do you remember Lindsay Boxer, the SFPD homicide detective?
JAMES PATTERSON: Sorta, she’s a character in that WOMEN’S MURDER CLUB thingy we got going, isn’t she?
MAXINE PAETRO: Yeah. Well, she’s the lead on the murder case in the story. I’m almost at our page limit and I can’t figure out how to have her solve the case.
JAMES PATTERSON: No problem! Just have a new character pop in for a one-off appearance and tell her who did it! Then she can wind it all up.
MAXINE PAETRO: Seriously?
JAMES PATTERSON: Absolutely. You’ve got deadlines to meet for my contracts on 12TH OF NEVER and UNLUCKY 13.
MAXINE PAETRO: OK, if you say so. Works for me. Shall we go in?
JAMES PATTERSON: Nah, never mind. Let’s go have a beer.

And, yes, it really was that bad! In the immortal words from a previous James Patterson title, YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!
