The Mystery Guest is the follow up to The Maid, one of my top favorite books from last year and it didn’t disappoint! I love the cozy mystery vibes, the charm and characters. 100% better on audio, Lauren Ambrose does an amazing job portraying Molly!

This time the Regency Grand Hotel is hosting a famous writer J. D. Grimthorpe where he’s about to reveal a surprise to his devoted fans, but he doesn’t get the chance. Mr. Grimthorpe dies mysteriously in the tea room with many employees around, including Molly and her new maid-in-training Lily - and now they are both suspects. However, Molly will be the key to solving the crime and keeping the reputation of the hotel in pristine condition.

I love the growth we see in Molly, she is now the Head Maid of the hotel 👏🏼 and has a new employee to boot, someone she saw potential in and hired on the spot. The background history was such a nice touch, young Molly and her Gran❤️ I didn’t think we’d get Gran’s wisdom again but it was even better!

The mystery and clues were solid and I could see this as a movie or series, the hotel is so homey, even if people accidentally keep dying 😅

When I first saw there would be a second book I was definitely apprehensive but now I’m so excited to read more, will this become a series, a trilogy?? I think there is a lot of potential and the *potential setup* is wonderful!
