Breaking Dawn
by Stephenie Meyer
emotional
lighthearted
fast-paced
Oh Twilight saga, my love. This was a reread, although I can't remember the last time I read it -- I found the book at a friend's house and was reminded that I in fact own all of them on my Kindle.
Is it poorly written at times? Yes. Are there weird ideas about relationships, marriage, and parenthood? Yes. Do I love it? Also, yes.
I'm convinced that anyone who can't recognize this series for the entertaining, aesthetic masterpiece it is simply doesn't like fun. This story and literary world has had a huge impact on my since I was a kid, as I'm sure it has for many other people, and it was so fun to dive back into it. Breaking Dawn as an ending seems almost too perfect in some ways (with maybe some toxic ideas about what "perfection" is), but I think that's part of the joy in it. I'm not giving it a star rating, because for me it kind of transcends a number. It is what is!
