i can add this one to the short list of thrillers where i have not guessed the plot twist. i thought i had it figured out, but i was way off and did not see that ending coming at all. this book kept me interested the entire time with the short chapters, alternating timelines and points of view (yes, both), and enough of a cliffhanger at the end of every chapter. while i was never bored with the story, the author did something i absolutely hate in thrillers and that was using mental illness as a plot twist, which will ALWAYS cause me to lower my rating even if i enjoyed the rest of the book. with that being said, i do feel like the way the mental illness was written was fairly accurate (i have a bachelor's degree in psychology and i'm working towards a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling), so it definitely gets points for that. i just hate when mental illnesses are used as plot twists.
